Why do some fantasy creatures, even the strangest ones, sometimes seem to catch our eye over humans? Monsters, demons, aliens, dragons, tentacled beasts, hybrid creatures… the realm of fantasy has never seemed so sexy.
Teratophilia isn’t simply a ‘monster fetish’. It also tells us a lot when it comes to understanding fantasies that don’t fit into our usual expectations regarding seduction. After all, desire isn’t always logical or reasonable, and it’s certainly unpredictable.
A teratophile is someone who is attracted to monstrous, inhuman or fantastical figures.
